NEW DELHI: Smriti Irani, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, launched a new attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday, demanding a reply on his colleague Satyendar Jain, who is being held by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case.

Irani said, "on June 1, about 12.30 p.m., I asked Kejriwal ji ten questions. The eleventh question asked if Kejriwal ji still believes Satyendar Jain did not do theft. Is Kejriwal certain that Satyendar Jain has no hidden assets? Is he convinced that Jain is not guilty? Until June 8, I have not received a response to any of my questions."

Irani asked whether Kejriwal still believes Satyendar Jain is "innocent" after the ED's recovery of Rs 2.80 crore in cash and 133 gold coins weighing over 1 kilogramme from Jain's home.  "Kejriwal had indicated that he reviewed the papers himself," the Union Minister remarked, and questioned whether he had checked such large sums of money processed by Satyendar Jain.

The minister also inquired as to whether the Delhi Chief Minister had reviewed the Delhi High Court's ruling on how Satyendar Jain collected Rs 16 crore in black money through shell firms and Hawala operators.
