Kochi: Social activist Rehana Fatima, who is often in controversy due to her antics, has surrendered to the Kochi police. A case has been registered against Rehana on a video in which she is seen lying in a semi-naked state and getting her minor children painted on her body. The Supreme Court had dismissed his anticipatory bail plea in this case a day earlier. After which Rehana reached the police station on Saturday and surrendered.
Confirming the arrest of Rehana Fatima, the police said that she surrendered at the South police station under the Kochi Commissionerate on Saturday afternoon. Rehana will be produced in the Magistrate Court after completing all the formalities of the arrest. She is the same Rehana who was trying to enter the Lord Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala in Kerala in the year 2018. It is alleged that she got her 14-year-old son and eight-year-old daughter to do a painting on her semi-naked body and made a video of it and posted it on social media.
The Kochi Police's Cyber Dome registered a case against Rehana after watching the video in June -2020. A case has been registered under the Posco Act-2012, Information Technology Act-2000 and Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Bill 2015. The Supreme Court on Friday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of the accused and said that the court is in a dilemma seeing the case that has come before them. The court had expressed concern that by watching such a video, what would be the impact on the mood of the children regarding the culture of the country.
