NEW DELHI: The ministry of electronics and IT stated in a notice made public on Friday that social media platforms must remove information that encourages, glorifies, or justifies the terrible murder of people in Udaipur.

A resident of Udaipur in Rajasthan, Kanhaiya Lal,  was killed on Tuesday by 2 cleaver-wielding guys, Riaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad, who posted a graphic video of the crime online claiming responsibility for the ''beheading''.

Through this notice, you are "directed to forthwith ensure that as part of your obligation of due diligence, safety and trust, you proactively and immediately remove any and all content, whether in the form of a text message, audio, video, photo, or any other form, that seems to encourage/glorify/justify this murder and killing" the notice dated June 29 said.

The horrible murder's video was shared online, and there have been numerous instances of social media handles and accounts praising and rationalising the killing, the reports read.
