Social Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar compared Government work with Mahatma Phule

On Saturday, Social Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar paid tributes to Phule marking the latter’s 195 birth anniversary on April 11. He described Phule as a social reformer and said that Phule had strived hard to root out illiteracy, superstitions and caste discrimination in the society. He said that said the TRS government was striving for the welfare of all sections in the society. Taking inspiration from Dr B R Ambedkar and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is relentlessly working for the uplift of all sections in the State with commitment.

He emphasis on state government work on this occasion and said that the State government was providing free education for the weaker sections by setting up 970 gurukul educational institutions including 281 for backward classes’ communities. It is said that a scholarship of Rs 20 lakh under Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Overseas Vidya Nidhi scheme is being provided for students to study abroad. Eshwar said 11 BC Study Circles were established across the State to help students prepare for civil services and other competitive exams.

Here it is to be noted that more funds were allocated for the backward classes in the budget this time, he said and added plans have been chalked out to launch ‘KCR Apathbandhu’ scheme to provide ambulances to the unemployed youth from BC communities. Equipment was also being provided to those who are into the traditional occupations and training was imparted to the youth in self-employment courses, he added.
