Bengaluru: Several provisions have been made in the social welfare department to curb corruption. This was stated by Social Welfare Minister Kota Srinivasa Pujari in this regard. He told BK Hariprasad of the Congress in the Middle of Question Hour in the Legislative Council that the foodgrains and materials required for the hostels of the Ministry of Social Welfare are now going to be procured directly from the market. No tenders are going to be invited for the same.

He has said that due to the connivance of officials and contractors, he is siphoning off crores of rupees to the Social Welfare Department. No tenders have been invited so far for the supply of such material to prevent this. He said that complaints of corruption have come to light against several administrative officers of Tumkuru District Ambedkar Vikas Nigam. Keeping this in view, a list of officers of the Ministry of Social Welfare who have been working in the same field for 20-25 years is being prepared. Such officers are going to be transferred soon.

Meanwhile, BK Hariprasad has said that corruption is going to continue as long as there is democracy in this country. We have to accept this bitter truth. Honest and truthful people have no place in politics. Harishchandra's place is in the crematorium. Hariprasad's sarcastic remarks evoked ridicule in the House. On the question of R Dharmasena of the Congress, the Minister has said that 7,832 Dr. Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhawans have been constructed in the state since 2008. 2 crores has been spent on the construction of each building. It is also being said that applications for additional expenditure are also to be made in many districts after applying for a grant of Rs.2 crores. A departmental inquiry has been directed into such cases.
