New Jersey [United States], June 8 (NT): The private posts of around 14 million Facebook users were made public because of a software bug.

The users, whose posts usually defaults to a preselected privacy setting, didn't know that a simple message to a person is in fact being shared with the general public because of this bug.

Worth mentioning here that this bug was active from May 18 to May 27. It changed users' privacy settings to public, without them knowing.

The social media giant company said the problem has been fixed, adding that it will notify the 14 million users who could have been affected, commencing Thursday.

"Starting today we are letting everyone affected know and asking them to review any posts they made during that time. We'd like to apologize for this mistake," the chief privacy officer Erin Egan quoted as saying by CNBC.

As we know that The biggest  social media platform  had been under scanner recently for the growing online data-privacy concerns like providing privileged access to its API with Chinese companies including Huawei, Lenovo, Oppo, and TCL, data harvesting by data analytics company Cambridge Analytica who is now bank defaulter and has shut down its many offices all over the world..
