Katni: Nine labourers were trapped when the underground canal of the Narmada Right Bank Canal Scheme collapsed at Slimnabad in the Katni district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. It is being told that 5 of these labourers have been taken out and sent to the hospital for treatment. On the other hand, four labourers are still reported to be trapped in the tunnel. According to reports, the rescue team is engaged in the operation by the police and the district administration. It is also reported that late in the night, the team of SDRF has also left for the spot from Jabalpur. On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has expressed grief over the incident and has directed the district administration to provide proper treatment to the injured. If you look at the media reports that have surfaced, the underground canal work of the Narmada right bank project from Bargi to Bansagar in Katni district is going on. At the same time, this project is being made by a private company in Hyderabad.

In such a situation, suddenly the soil of the underground canal caved in late on Saturday evening, however, it buried nine labourers working inside the underground canal. On the other hand, after receiving information about the incident, police and district administration officials rushed to the spot, after which relief and rescue operations are on. The work of removing the soil from the machines is currently being done. On the other hand, five labourers have been evacuated and sent to the district hospital for treatment.

With this, efforts are on to evacuate the remaining 4 workers. In a tweet, the Chief Minister of the state, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, expressed grief and at the same time, the CM has directed the Katni district administration to expedite rescue operations to evacuate the stranded labourers along with proper treatment of the injured and necessary relief work in the affected areas. You can see, he wrote in his tweet- 'Saddened by the news of workers being buried during the construction work of the canal at Sleemanabad in Katni district. It is a matter of relief that 3 out of 9 workers have been evacuated safely. Rescue and relief operations are on.'
