The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has reached a deal with Adani Group to buy 4,667 MW of green power. This is the largest green power purchase agreement in the world. Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), a subsidiary of the diversified Adani Group, announced on Tuesday that it has inked a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the government-run SECI.

"We are delighted to have inked the world's largest PPA with SECI," Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani stated. "Under the Atmanirbhar Bharat programme, this is yet another milestone in our path to enable India's dual purpose of accelerating India's renewable energy footprint while also promoting local manufacturing," he said.

"Following the outcomes of COP 26, it is becoming increasingly clear that the world needs to shift to a low-carbon economy more quickly than previously envisaged. This is why the Adani Group has committed USD50-USD70 billion in renewable energy projects. This deal maintains us on track to achieving our goal of being the world's largest renewable energy player by 2030 "Adani continued. The AGEL-SECI deal to deliver 4,667 MW is part of an 8,000 MW manufacturing-linked solar tender issued to AGEL by SECI in June 2020, which set a global record for the largest solar development tender ever awarded.
