New Delhi: Attacking Congress  over blatantly using the term ‘chowkidar’ (watchman) in tandem with ‘chor’ (thief)  said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that  an attack against every watchman under the sky. They lack the courage to name  him.

PM addressed over 25 lakh ‘chowkidars’ through audio bridge medium.While addressing to the watchman community PM sad, “I would like to apologise to you as some people in the past few months have run a disinformation campaign against ‘chowkidars’ for their vested interests. It is unfortunate that the language of these people has hurt you… Some people are abusing ‘chowkidars’, an attack against every watchman under the sky. They lack the courage to name me,” Modi said.

He further said, “If you would have noticed, of late everywhere it is you who is being discussed, be it on the television or the social media, be it in India or abroad. Today, every Indian is saying ‘Main bhi chowkidar’.”

Praising the watchmen community across India, he said that the term ‘chowkidar’ is now being widely accepted even outside the country. The term ‘chowkidar’ has become synonymous with patriotism and honesty.
