"Some great artists are not given work because they are not verified on social media": Bhumika Gurung

Nimki Mukhiya fame Bhumika Gurung Malhotra recently opened her heart out on her social media handle where she wrote, 'Television industry... doesn't deserve good actors and good humans! They just don't know what to do with such artists (sic).' When we had a conversation with Bhumika about this, she said, "I didn't have an actual reason to say it, but it's something that I have been witnessing for a while now. Some really experienced and good artists are sitting at home only because they are not verified on social media or they don't have too many fans and followers. How can actors be cast only on the condition of their followers on social media? It is really disturbing to see this occuring. We need to go back to those days when an artist's skills and talent was considered most prominent. Many actors feel this way but they don't voice their opinions."

Does she worry about the repercussions she could get after voicing her mind? "Yes, I'll have to deal with that. People will mention that I frequently post on social media as well. I am doing it because I have a house to manage and that is my main source of income. But the industry needs to adjust how it runs. I share my thoughts with a lot of other people."

On the professional front, Bhumika is currently seen in the show Hara Sindoor, talking about her character she said in an earlier interview, “I am essaying Rani and just like her name she is a strong girl with strong opinions and headstrong beliefs. She is straightforward of what she does. The metamorphosis of a young simple girl into a powerful force is what the show will trace. I have always been inclined to do a show which will show fierce women and somewhere empower them."
