On Wednesday, youngster Sonam Malik has defeated Sakshi Malik for the second time in a row and has confirmed her place in the next month's Olympic qualifiers. The 18-year-old Sonam was again asked to take part in the trials as she failed to perform well in the Rome Rankings Series and the recently concluded Asian Championships, winning the 62kg win over her rivals.

Sonam defeated Radhika first and then defeated 56 kg, gold medalist, Sarita Mor in the Asian Championship 3–1 in the semi-finals. After this, he won the victory by beating the Rio Olympics bronze medalist Sakshi in the final. She bothered Sakshi in the second period when she was trailing 1-2 and there was one minute left in the match. Nine wrestlers, including World Championship 2018 bronze medalist Pooja Dhanda, participated in trials in the 62kg weight category. The current world cadet champion is currently practicing under the supervision of coach Ajmer Malik. Coach Ajmer said that it is a big achievement for this youth to win the victory by beating Sakshi. He did this despite an elbow injury in Rome.

He is not fully recovered from that injury. He did not even practice well. Meanwhile, Kiran won the trials of 76 kg weight category. The Asian Olympic qualifiers will be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from 27 to 29 March. Its finalists will qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.
