Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 08 (NT): In the last three days run-up to the Assembly polls in the poll bound state of Karnataka, former Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah are programmed to visit the state for their election campaign, later today.

Star campaigner for the saffron Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) CM Yogi Adityanath , is expected to address public meetings in Bhatkal, Byndoor, Mudabidre, Virajpet, and Sullia during the day.

Meanwhile, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi will address a public meeting at Vijayapura at 03:00 pm.

From the Congress side Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah will address a gathering in the city of ruler Tipu Sultan, Mysuru.

It is noted that Siddaramaiah sparked a controversy when his government celebrated Tipu's birth anniversary last year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 6 trained a gun at the Congress in a public meeting in Chitradurga over the same heated discussion, claiming that the party is vote bank politics in the name of celebrating jayantis of sultans.

The state has turned to be a political battleground with public rallies being the primary form of warfare with the election to the 225-member Karnataka State Assembly inching closer.
