New Delhi: Interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former National President Rahul Gandhi on Friday condoled the death of The First President of Zambia and founder of modern Zambia, Dr Kenneth David Kaunda, saying he was a true friend of India and will continue to inspire generations to come.

Sonia Gandhi in her condolence message said that Kaunda was a stalwart personality who led the struggle against colonialism. As a politician, he groomed Zambia. He will always be remembered for his true friends and non-aligned movement of India. He said his special relationship with India and the Congress party will always be cherished. He said that in this hour of grief, India and the Congress Party extend deep condolences to the family and friends of Awam and Kaunda of Zambia.
