New Delhi: Interim President of Congress Sonia Gandhi will communicate with Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states and Chief Ministers of West Bengal, Maharashtra, Jharkhand today, this meeting will be held in a virtual manner. GST compensation, NEET-JEE examinations and many other issues are expected to be discussed in this meeting. The Union Finance Ministry said on August 1 that the total GST collection stood at Rs 87,422 crore, which was 14 percent less than the previous year. Of this, Rs 16,147 crore as Central GST (CGST), Rs 21,418 crore as State GST (SGST). The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced to conduct the JEE examinations from September 1 to September 6 and NEET on September 13, after the apex court rejected the plea to postpone the examinations.

Many CMs have been opposing the Centre's decision to conduct the exam. Earlier in the day, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee wrote to PM Modi urging the central government to consider filing a review petition in the Supreme Court regarding the dates of NEET and JEE examinations.
