New Delhi: The Karnataka Congress leader and former minister DK Shivkumar is lodged in Tihar Jail in the money laundering case. The interim president of Congress arrived in Tihar Jail in Karnataka to meet this party's troubleshooter. Sonia reached Tihar at around nine in the morning. The two leaders met for about half an hour. A source said that Sonia went to know the well being of senior Congress leader Shivkumar of Karnataka as well as to show solidarity towards him.

Shivkumar, arrested on charges of money laundering, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) a few weeks ago and is currently lodged in Tihar Jail. Sonia also met senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram arrested in INX Media case after reaching Tihar. DK is likely to pronounce his verdict on the bail plea of Sivakumar on Wednesday. On October 17, Justice Suresh Kait reserved his decision on his bail plea.

The petition claimed that the case was a result of political rivalry and there is not enough evidence against him. The ED opposed his bail plea, stating that he was an influential person and if released, he could tamper with the evidence and influence the witnesses. Let us tell you that Shivkumar played an important role in forming the Congress-JDS government in Karnataka.
