New Delhi: Sonia Gandhi's one-year term as the interim president of the Congress party will end on August 10. To increase this, a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) will soon be held. The party will have to inform its decision to the Election Commission by 10 August.
Recently, Congress had informed the Commission that the process of electing the new president could not be started due to the lockdown implemented from March 25 to prevent the Corona epidemic. Commission officials say that the commission will intervene in the matter if it is not elected as chairman till 10 August. The Election Commission has sent a notice to Congress asking them to give information about the election of the National President. On 10 August last year, Sonia Gandhi took over the responsibility of the interim president.
Within a year, the commission was told to elect a permanent chairman. The Election Commission has consulted the Congress in the same regard. In the last Lok Sabha elections, Congress got only 52 seats. After this, taking responsibility for the defeat, Rahul Gandhi resigned from the post of Congress President. He then said that he does not want to work as president, but will continue to work for the party.
