Apart from Sonia and Mandeep, the other players to contest the finals included Lovlina Borgohain (69kg), Himanshu Sharma (49kg), and Muhammed Etash Khan (56kg). Lovlina Borgohain has been a gold-medallist at the India Open earlier this year.
the players who won a bronze medal, included Shiva, Vanhmlimpuia (75kg) who is a debutant,  Ashish (64kg), and Bina Devi Koijam (48kg) who grabbed a direct entry into the last-four stages due to the small size of the women's draw.
Well, Shiva lost by a close score bout to the home boxer Battumur Misheelt. Meanwhile, Bina was defeated by the Korean boxer Kim Kum Sun.
Ashish and the debutante boxer Vanhmlimpuia gave their hundred per cent in their respective bouts but failed when it was about getting judges' nod.

Sonia is a two-time silver-medalist in world and in Asian championships. She defeated Tiantian Zhao who is a Chinese boxer, in a split decision. Sonia looked low in the opening round and was dominated by Zhao.
