New Delhi: Members of the grand old party including Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ashok Gehlot paid tribute to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary.

Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Robert Vadra paid tribute to former primministerer Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary.

"We remember former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, the architect of far reaching reforms in Telecom, IT, Panchayati Raj amongst many many others, on his birth anniversary", Congress twitter handle  wrote. 

Remembering his father Gandhi scion took his twitter handle and wrote, "Rajiv Gandhi was a kind, gentle and affectionate man whose untimely death left a deep void in my life. I remember the times we had together and the many birthdays we were lucky to celebrate with him when he was alive. He is greatly missed, but his memory lives on".

Earlier in the day, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC superemo Mamata Banerjee committed a blunder when she tweeted that she had remembered Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary. However, the tweet was soon deleted and she expressed her wishes on Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary.

Meanwhile, The Congress has planned various programmes on Monday to celebrate former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary. His birth anniversary celebrates as Sadbhavna divas or Harmony Day.

Worth mention here The Congress’ minority department is celebrating Sadbhavna Week from August 14 to August 20 organized a conference in New Delhi on Sunday where it vowed to bring down increasing ferociousness in the society represented in cases of mob lynching by spreading message of peace and love.
