Hyderabad: Bhima-Koregaon case has been in lights since the year 2018. It was the worst thing that happened in the history of riots, especially in Maharashtra. In the same context, revolutionary writer P Varavara Rao’s sons-in-law K. Satyanarayana and KV Kurmanath appeared before the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the Bhima Koregaon case.

A few days ago, the Mumbai unit of the NIA had asked them to appear as a witness under Sections 160 and 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code. While Satyanarayana is an educator with English and Foreign Languages University, Kurmanath is a senior journalist based in Hyderabad. In past, the year 2018 marked the 200th year of battle therefore it was a larger crowd at Bhima Koregaon as compared to previous years.

During the celebrations there were violent clashes between Dalit and Maratha groups, resulting in the death of at least one person and injuries to several others. Tensions had started building in between the group from December 29, 2017, when the memorial of Govind Gopal Mahar's was found desecrated. The incident found mention in the Elgar Parishad, a big public conference organized by Dalit and Bahujan groups on December 31, 2017. The cops also claimed that provocative speeches were made in the event and that led to the violence.
