NEW DELHI: Well known Singer Sonu Nigam is annoyed over the way B-town treats its singers and claimed that Pakistani singers are more admired in India these days than Indian singers. The singer also laid blame his dilemma on the growing fame of Pakistani singers. Sonu Nigam stated “Sometimes, I feel as if it would have been better if I were from Pakistan. At least I would get offers from India.”

While speaking at a summit, Sonu stated that Indian singer nowadays frequently has to pay music companies to perform at shows and that is not happened with the Pakistani singers.

Reports on News18 suggested that Nigam asserted "They don’t do the same with Pakistani singers. But then why single only Indian singers out? Atif Aslam is a very close friend of mine. He is never asked to pay to sing at shows, neither is Rahat Fateh Ali Khan,"

Worth mention here this is not the first time when Nigam has made a these type of statements such as this. Last year also Nigam, in a series of tweets, had described the noisy sermons from the loudspeakers as hooliganism and consequentially he received 'fatwa' being issued against him by a Kolkata-based cleric.

The tweet evoked annoyed reactions, with Samajwadi Party's Abu Azmi stating  that Such irresponsible comments have been made in the earlier period also and he is unable to understand what kind of people they are.

He asserted , “ I would like to know how does azaan, which otherwise purifies you on hearing, bother her. May be her sleep is more important."
