Soon the Supreme Court will get a new building, President Kovind will inaugurate

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court is going to get a new and much bigger building on Wednesday. On Wednesday evening, President Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate the new building. Built at a cost of about Rs 885 crore in 12.19 acres, the 15 lakh 40 thousand sq ft of space will be available in the city. The new building of the Supreme Court has been constructed along the Progress Ground on the other side of the road near the top court. The new building will be attached to the old Supreme Court building. whose path is underground.

All administrative work of the apex court, filing of cases, taking copies of court orders and judgements, etc., will all be shifted from the old building to the new building. The new building will have space for three-storey parking for 2000 cars and lawyers will be given 500 new chambers for themselves. The building has a separate room for two auditoriums and round table conferences with a capacity of 650 and 250 people. The courts hearing the cases will be in the old book. The office of the Chief Justice and other judges will also remain in the old city.

The top court began on January 28, 1950. The work of the Supreme Court was then done in some part of the Parliament House, which came to the Supreme Court building in 1958 after eight years. The top court has a total of 31 judges' posts, all of which are appointed in the courts, all of which are employed in the old building.
