Karthik Sivakumar (Karthi) is an Indian Tamil film actor, better known as Karthi. He is the son of actor Sivakumar and younger brother of actor Surya Sivakumar. He was born on 25 May 1977 in Chennai. He did his studies at St. Bede's Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, completing his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Crescent Engineering College, Chennai. Later, he studied industrial engineering from Binghamton University in New York. He also worked as a graphic designer. Karthi was married to Ranjani (Chinna Sammy's daughter) on 3 July 2011 in Coimbatore.

Career: He worked with director Mani Ratnam as assistant director for the film Ayutu Ezhuthu but first Mani Ratnam offered him a role in the same film, but Karthi declined it and he continued as an assistant. In 2006, director Aamir approached Karthi to play the lead role in his third film Paruthiveeran. After getting some suggestions from her father and brother, Karthi started her acting career with Aamir with Paruthivaran.

Paruthiveeran was released in 2007, and became a blockbuster. Karthi went on to earn several awards such as Filmfare Best Debut and Best Actor. Then he did an Aayirathil Oruvan film with Selvaraghavan, it was a fantasy film, so it took some time to release while he also worked in a romantic film Pya along with Lingusamy. Both were released in 2010 and were highly successful at the box office.

In the same year, his Naan Mahayan Alla directed by Susendran received some mixed reviews and was a box office failure. All his films were later screened in Telugu and were commercially successful. His next venture is Siruthai, a Telugu remake of Vikramakudu released for Pongal 2011. He played a dual role for the first time, a rowdy and strict police officer and it became a big hit in C centers due to the commercial aspects in the film.
