South Africa tour: Corona spoils series, CSA decides

New Delhi: The Test and ODI series between India and South Africa will be played without spectators. Cricket South Africa (CSA) has decided not to sell any tickets due to the corona virus. Both teams are going to play a series of 3 Tests and the same ODI matches from December 26. Test matches of the series will be played in Centurion, Cape Town and Johannesburg, while Parl and Cape Town will host 50-over matches.

CSA said in a statement, "With great regret, CSA wants to inform cricket's most enthusiastic fans as well as all sports lovers that due to the increasing corona infection cases all over the world and the fourth wave at the local level, the Cricket Board of both the countries has taken a joint decision to protect the players and not to provide tickets for India vs South Africa matches Has decided.'

The statement said that 'this decision was taken to avoid any violations which could have increased the risks of corona viruses. It will also help in maintaining a corona-free biobubble environment. At this stage we would like to remind all cricket fans that tours and all matches will still be broadcast on supersport and SABC platforms. Also as part of ongoing efforts to increase the reach of cricket, CSA is looking for other options.'
