On the third day of the 13th South Asian Games, on Wednesday, India won 29 medals and topped the medals table on the third day of the 13th South Asian Games. India won 15 gold medals on Wednesday, of which five were in athletics. India has so far won a total of 71 medals, including 32 gold, 26 silver and 13 bronze.
Nepal is in second place with 69 medals including 29 gold, 15 silver and 25 bronze. In athletics, India won 10 medals (five gold, three silver and two bronze) while six table tennis and taekwondo, five triathlon and two kho-kho. The Indian athletics event dominated the first day. Archana Susindran won the gold medal in the women's 200m race. At the same time, A. Chandralekha of India was third. Suresh Kumar won the gold medal in the men's 10000 meters category.
At the same time, Lokesh Satyanathan and Swaminathan finished first in the long jump. In men's discus throw, Kripal Singh and Gagandeep Singh secured the first two spots. In women's discus throw, Navjeet Kaur Dhillon brought India the gold medal while Survi Vishwas got the silver medal. Sandra Babu got a bronze medal in the long jump.
The Indian men's and women's Kho-Kho teams, which won the gold medal in the year 2016, beat the Bangladesh and Nepal respectively and won the gold medal in their bag. When India won the gold in both the categories, Bangladesh had to be content with the silver medal in the men's event while Nepal finished third. Nepal finished second in the women's section while Bangladesh finished their campaign with a bronze medal.
