South Korea registers 171,673 breakthrough Covid cases

Seoul: According to health officials in South Korea, there have been 171,673 breakthrough Covid-19 infections so far, which refers to persons who have been vaccinated but have been infected with the virus.

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the number of people who tested positive for Covid-19 after receiving two vaccine doses was at 171,673 as of December 26. (KDCA).  According to Xinhua, it accounted for 0.414 percent of the completely vaccinated population, which reached 41,484,528 on December 26.

It is known that two weeks after receiving the full vaccination, people can be protected against the coronavirus. According to the KDCA, there were 2,200 seriously sick patients among the total breakthrough cases. The death toll has risen to 1,058.  On December 26, 3,775 persons were infected with Covid-19 after obtaining booster injections, accounting for 0.06 percent of the total 6,309,462 people who received the vaccine.

The Asian country reported 3,129 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the overall number of cases to 642,207. For the past two days, the daily caseload has been below 4,000.
