MAINPURI: Dimple Yadav, a candidate for the Samajwadi Party, announced on Monday that she dedicates her nomination to the ideals and values of party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav before submitting her petition to run in the Mainpuri Lok Sabha by-election.

The 44-year-old wife of Samajwadi Partychief Akhilesh Yadav will file her nomination later in the day. She stated in a Hindi tweet, "We dedicate today's nomination to Mulayam Singh Yadav's beliefs and values with a salute ('naman') to "netaji." The goodwill of Netaji has always been and always will be with us."

On December 5, there will be by-elections for the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency, and on December 8, the results will be announced.

The deadline for submitting nominations for the by-election is November 17, and nominations are still being accepted.
After Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away on October 10, the Mainpuri parliamentary seat became vacant.
Five assembly districts make up the Mainpuri parliamentary district: Mainpuri, Bhongaon, Kishni, Karhal, and Jaswant Nagar. The BJP won the Mainpuri and Bhogaon seats in the 2022 assembly elections, while the SP won the Karhal, Kishni, and Jaswant Nagar seats.

It is currently unclear whether the Congress, BSP, and Shivpal Yadav's Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia (PSPL) will run in the elections, while the BJP has not yet declared its candidate for the seat.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidate Subrat Pathak from Kannauj defeated Dimple Yadav.
In the 2019 election, Mulayam Singh Yadav defeated Prem Singh Shakya of the BJP by a margin of more than 94,000 votes.

Shivpal Yadav represents Jaswant Nagar, which is included in the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency, as is Akhilesh's Karhal assembly seat.

After Akhilesh Yadav became the chief minister and vacated his seat to join the Uttar Pradesh legislative council, Dimple Yadav was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Kannauj constituency without any opposition in 2012.
