Lucknow: After BJP and Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP) has also announced its candidates in all the five seats in Rampur district for the UP assembly elections on Tuesday (January 18, 2022). According to reports, azam khan, who is in jail, has been given ticket by the SP from Rampur seat. He will contest the assembly elections while in jail. Azam Khan has been MLA nine times from the seat.

Azam Khan's son Abdullah Azam Khan has been fielded by Akhilesh Yadav from Swar-Tanda. With this, Naseer Ahmed Khan, close to Azam Khan from Chamroua seat and Former MLA Vijay Singh from Milk seat have been fielded while Amarjeet Singh has been given ticket from Bilaspur assembly seat. That is, the SP has once again bet on the old faces and put them back in the electoral fray. Polling will be held in the second phase of polling in the district on 14th February. Nominations for the same will begin from January 21.

The 403-member Assembly seats in UP are scheduled to go to polls in seven phases. It will go to polls in 58 seats spread over 11 districts of the western part of the state on February 10. In the second phase, 55 seats in the state will go to polls on February 14. Polling will be held in 59 seats in the third phase, 60 seats in the fourth, 60 seats in the fifth, 57 seats in the sixth and 54 seats in the seventh phase on March 7.
