Prayagraj: A special court, which has completed its trial in the Ram Janmabhoomi terror attack case at Ayoghya 14 years ago, is likely to pronounce its verdict today. After the hearing was over on June 11, the court had set June 18 as the date for the verdict. The case is being heard by Special Judge SCST Dinesh Chand. DGC Gulab Aghari informed that the prosecution and defence debate had ended on June 11. The court had secured its verdict after hearing all the parties.

The attack took place at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya at 9.15 a.m. on the morning of July 5, 2005. An FIR was lodged at Thana Ram Janmabhoomi at 2 pm without delay by Dalnayak Krishna Chand Singh of the Wadi PAC. The attack was carried out by five terrorists. whose intention was to demolish the Ram Lala temple to avenge the demolition of the Babri structure.

The allegations made by the police were intended to increase hostility among the two communities and end communal harmony and hurt the religious sentiments of a particular community. The five attackers blew up the barricade of the Ramlala complex. The security forces deployed in the compound had killed all the five terrorists on the spot. Two civilians were also killed in the incident and seven others were seriously injured.
