NEW DELHIH: Due to a ransomware assault that disrupted morning flight departures, hundreds of SpiceJet passengers were stuck at numerous airports on Wednesday.

A representative confirmed the report, stating that a ransomware attack on Tuesday night caused flight delays this morning. "An attempted ransomware attack on SpiceJet systems last night disrupted and slowed early flight departures this morning. Our IT staff has contained and resolved the issue, and flights are currently operating normally." SpiceJet sent out a tweet after receiving numerous enquiries about the flight delay.

While passengers stranded at airports vented their displeasure with the delay, ground staff informed them that "the server was down."

According to a recent report by Sophos, 78 percent of Indian firms were hit by ransomware in 2021, up from 68 percent in 2020. The average ransom paid by Indian firms whose data was encrypted in the most serious ransomware attack was USD 1,198,475, with 10% of victims paying a ransom of USD1 million or more, according to report.
