Mumbai: On a sequential basis, SpiceJet's standalone net loss in the second quarter of FY22 shrank to Rs 561.7 crore. In the first quarter of FY22, the airline reported a net loss of Rs 729 crore. However, the net loss increased year over year. During the second quarter of FY21, the airline reported a net loss of Rs 112.59 crore.

"We've made great strides in our recovery, and I anticipate that trend to continue in the coming quarters. There has been a considerable increase in travel demand as a result of the statewide vaccination effort expanding at an unprecedented rate across regions, and we are quite optimistic about the demand recovery "SpiceJet Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh said.

"The settlement with important lessors, the 737 MAX's return in the current quarter (Q3), the transfer of the logistics company, and some very significant announcements lined up soon are all good tailwinds that should have a significant influence on our long-term ambitions." According to Singh, the 737 MAX's return coincides with an increase in passenger traffic and the government's approval of airlines operating at maximum capacity. "We are looking forward to adding capacity in the shape of our 737 MAX aircraft, which will improve our operational efficiencies and bring significant cost savings,  he said.
