Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, an animated superhero mpvie, is currently one of the most talked about films, with fans analysing every frame and scene. One of the most contentious points is why the film did not include a post-credits sequence. Now, the film's producer has spoken out about a half-complete post-credits sequence that was scheduled to be in the picture but was deleted.
The second film in the Spider-Verse trilogy series, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, was released on June 2, 2023, chronicling Miles Morales' life. To the disappointment of the fandom, there are no post-credits sequences in the film. Producer Phil Lord has now explained why this choice was made and revealed the post-credits scene that was originally planned for the film but was never completed.
According to Lord, none of the post-credits scenes they planned to add in the film fit the goal. "Hard to beat where we left off," he told IndieWire. Spot, played by Jason Schwartzman, was featured in a half-finished post-credits sequence that was planned to be included in the film. Spot is apparently hanging out at a Spidey villain bar, but he is unable to grab a drink because no one recognizes him. "And then he finally steals the drink for himself, pours it down, and it all leaks out of his holes," Lord said.
They also said, "We explored Miles tied to the punching bag, we talked about that as a post-credit. We talked about Gwen and Peter B. going back, we talked about that being post-credit, but then we ended up settling on what I love, which is this kind of cross-cutting between the plight of all these characters kind of catapulting us into that next film, and knowing that the cavalry is coming for Miles." Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the third film in the franchise, is set to be released on March 29, 2024.
