The Sports Authority of India recently transferred Rs 30,000 to the accounts of Khelo India athletes. For this, the authority has spent Rs 8.25 crore.

Key point: According to media reports, the Sports Authority of India recently deposited Rs 30,000 in the accounts of 2,749 Khelo India athletes. This sports allowance has been provided to the athletes to travel to their city, get proper diet at home and for other miscellaneous expenses. Out of pocket allowance under Khelo India Scholarship is Rs 1.20 lakhs annually.

Khelo India: For information, let us tell that Khelo India was launched to promote sports culture in India. This scheme is being implemented by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. The objective of this scheme is to make India a great sports nation. Under this scheme, the Government of India provides financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakhs per annum over a period of 8 years. Under this scheme, the Sports Ministry organizes school level, college level and university level programs.
