New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi today addressed the nation on April 27, the 78th episode of his monthly radio program 'Mann Ki Baat.' As a result, Prime Minister Modi also discussed sports and said that when talent, dedication, and determination come together, one becomes a winner. In the country, most of the players come out of small towns, towns, and villages. Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju has expressed happiness over Prime Minister Modi's address.

Kiren Rijiju said that the words spoken by PM Modi for sports and sportspersons should be heard by all from Mann Ki Baat today. Prime Minister Modi himself is leading the 'Cheer for India' campaign for the Tokyo Olympics, which could be a bigger thing to boost the morale of sportspersons. He further said, "I think the support system that the players need is currently being received from the Government of India. I hope the performance will be good. The standard of Indian players has been much higher than before, now we have come to the world stage.''

Earlier, Kiren Rijiju had made an important appeal to the citizens of the country saying that all persons should respect the players who have qualified for the Olympic Games just as they do cricketers. Rijiju said, "I want the Olympic movement and its importance to be known to all. Sports is the largest soft power in the country.'' Expressing hope for the best performance from the Indian contingent at the Tokyo Olympics, which begins next month, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju said that efforts should be made to popularise Olympians like cricketers in the country and they are committed to it.
