Sri Ganga Saraswathi Devasthanam temple is Hindu temple of Goddess Sarswati. It is located on the banks of the Godavari Rivers, Basar, Telangana. It is the second famous temple of the Mata saraswati  in the Indian subcontinent. Mata Saraswati is the Hindu Goddess of Knowledge and learning.

In Mahabharatha, after the kurukshetra war, Maharishi Vyas and his followers and the sage viswamitra mad the decision to settle down in a calm environment. He visited the Dakndaka forest in search of a quiet spot to live and taken aback by the area’s tranquilly, decided to stay there. Due to the Marathi language’s influence in this area, the location was originally called “Vasara” and later changed to “Basara” since the Maharishi Vyasa spent a lot of time in prayer there.

It is believed that this temple is one of the three temples constructed near the confluence of the Manjira and Godavari rivers.  

The temple at Basara was built by the historical “Bijaludu” a Karnataka King who governed the province of Nandagiri with nanded as his apital in the sixth century. Nandagiri ruler resorte the temple’s idols in the 17th century after Muslim invaderas had destroyed them.

To perform the "Akshara abhyasam" ceremony for the kids before they enter formal schooling, many pilgrims travel to the Gnana Saraswati Temple Basar. The youngsters practise their alphabet skills and offer the goddess of knowledge books, pens, pencils and notebooks. The temple's morning puja begins at 4 am with an hour-long Abhishekam ritual. The Alankarana, in which the fresh sarees are decorated for the deities, begins at five o'clock. The environment is really virtuous and religious. The aarti at the temple begins at six in the morning, during the early sun, and is followed by the distribution of prasadam to the worshippers.

During the 15 days leading up to (Vasantha Panchami) and three days after the festival, special poojas and celebrations are held at the temple. During Dasara, Devi Navarathrulu is commemorated for ten days.

On the first floor of the temple, close to the main temple, is a Mahakali idol. Devotees frequently visit the adjacent mountain, where a Saraswati idol is perched atop a rock. In the sanctum sanctorum, a statue of Lakshmi is placed next to a statue of the Goddess Saraswati. Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Kali are all present at Basara, making it the home of the heavenly trinity.
