Colombo: The counting of Lok Sabha elections in Sri Lanka started on Thursday, in which the Sri Lankan People's Party (SLPP) run by the Rajapaksa family is expected to win. Earlier this election has been postponed twice. While giving the information, the Chairman of the National Election Commission, Mahinda Deshpriya said that the elections were held in a peaceful manner amid the outbreak of Corona epidemic, in which 70 percent of the voting has been recorded.

According to a report, as the counting of votes began, SLPP founder and national organizer Basil Rajapaksa said that his party was fully prepared to form the new government. Basil is the brother of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and PM candidate Mahinda Rajapaksa. "We are confident that the SLPP will win a historic victory, we are expecting a two-thirds majority in the elections but it will be decided by the public," he said, adding that he is confident that President Gotbaiah and PM Mahinda Under the leadership of the economy will be better.

Election Commission chief Deshpriya said that the results will be declared by Thursday evening. Mahinda Rajapaksa told the press after the vote that, "We are hopeful of winning by a two-thirds majority". Hope to get similar support this time.
