Chennai: Former Sri Lankan veteran spinner and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan has told that the biopic '800' based on his life is only about his sporting achievements and he has spent decades in the country. He did this even after the struggle. He has expressed displeasure over this, saying that he is being accused of being against the Tamils and said that this is due to political reasons and ignorance.

Tamil Nadu actor Vijay Sethupathy is resuming his career through a biopic. Some political parties on Thursday alleged that Muralitharan had betrayed the Tamils, so Sethupathi should not work in it. Muralitharan said that he never supported the killing of innocent people. He issued a statement saying that he understood the anguish of the Sri Lankan civil war and that his family had traveled to Sri Lanka as 'coolies'. He said, 'We are also affected by that.'

Muralitharan has played 133 Test matches for Sri Lanka in which he has taken 800 wickets, that is why his biopic has also been named on this basis. Murali has also participated in 350 ODIs and has taken 534 wickets in his name.
