SSC Paper Leak: CBI registers preliminary enquiry in the case

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a preliminary enquiry into the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exam paper leak case. The investigating agency had received a reference for the case from the Central government, which ordered a CBI enquiry into the matter after several protests were staged demanding the same.

CBI examined all the allegations received in the reference and arrived at a decision to initiate a preliminary enquiry into the matter. A preliminary enquiry is conducted to examine the allegations for prima facie material, after which an FIR is filed.

SSC is conducted to recruit people for posts in Central government.

Several students have been protesting against the paper leak saying that the leak has put the career of many aspirants at stake. The protests are being staged outside SSC office in New Delhi since February 27.

The protest started after SSC released a notification rescheduling the exam from February 21 to March 09 citing ‘technical problem’ as the reason for the same. However, SSC aspirants alleged that the question paper has been leaked on social media and staged protests from February 27. The aspirants have been demanding a CBI probe into the ‘mass leak’ of the question paper.
Home minister Rajnath Singh had assured of a CBI probe into the matter on March 5
