Kolkata: A sudden stampede broke out in a queue for the coronavirus vaccine in Dhupguri in West Bengal. 25 people were reportedly injured in the stampede. The seriously injured people have been admitted to Jalpaiguri Sadar Hospital. Tell you that there is a long queue at the vaccination centre in West Bengal and today there was chaos in the rush to move forward to the vaccination centre.

According to reports, the gate of Dhupguri Health Centre was closed. As soon as the gate opened, the vaccinators tried to go to the vaccination centre. Reportedly the amount of corona vaccine is not enough. Due to this, the vaccine is not reaching rural areas. The camp gates were closed on Tuesday in view of the rush of vaccinators at the Dhupguri health centre. It was during this time that the incident took place. CM Mamata Banerjee has been consistently complaining of the shortage of corona vaccine and accusing the central government of inequity with Bengal in distribution. She had also written to PM Modi in this regard.

Mamata had said that if the vaccine supply in Bengal is not increased, the covid epidemic could aggravate the situation. Even after Bengal's population density is very high, it is getting very few doses of vaccines. Smaller BJP-ruled states of Gujarat, Karnataka, etc., have received more and adequate vaccines than Bengal. She appealed to PM Modi to increase the supply of vaccines and said the state needs 140 million doses to vaccinate all eligible people. In the letter, she said that at present we are giving only four lakh vaccines per day while we have the capacity to give 11 lakh doses.
