Starliner Return Live Update- Uncrewed Boeing spacecraft is back on Earth, touches down in New Mexico....
NASA’s Starliner spacecraft has embarked on its return journey to Earth after undocking from the International Space Station (ISS) without crew members Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore. The spacecraft began its journey at 6:04 p.m. EDT on Friday (September 6), which corresponds to 3:30 a.m. IST on Saturday (September 7). It is expected to land at White Sands Space Harbor in New Mexico around 12 a.m. EDT or 9:30 a.m. IST on Saturday.
Before Starliner departed, NASA astronaut Sunita Williams shared a heartfelt message with the flight control teams, expressing her gratitude and confidence in their abilities. "We are just looking at the flight control rosters and like wow, it is the all-star team...it is time to bring Calypso home. You have got this. We have your backs and you've got this. Bring her back to Earth," Williams said.
NASA confirmed that the spacecraft is scheduled for a deorbit burn at 11:17 p.m. EDT, with the anticipated landing in New Mexico shortly after midnight. Williams, who had been involved in the mission, radioed, "She's on her way home," as Starliner exited.
The return of Starliner marks another significant step in NASA’s ongoing mission to enhance crewed and uncrewed spacecraft technology.
