BJP demands probe seeking compensation for farmers' death in Chhattisgarh

According to government statistics, 141 farmers have killed themselves in Chhattisgarh in the last 10 months. The state government gave this information in the assembly on Friday. Raising the issue of farmer suicides, the opposition BJP demanded action in this case and fair compensation for the families of the deceased farmers.

Leader of the Opposition, Dharamlal Kaushik, has become a farmers' issue during the Question Hour. He asked the government how many farmers committed suicide in the state from April 2020 to February 2021 and what was the reason for their taking this step. They have also demanded information about the steps taken by the government to stop it.

It has been learned that in response, the state Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey said that 141 farmers have committed suicide. He has said that a lower-level revenue officer in the Kondagaon district has been sacked. On this, Kaushik attacked the government and said that all such cases should be investigated and compensation should be given to the families of all the deceased farmers.
