On Friday, the deprived Bahujan Aghadi Party in Maharashtra has called for a Maharashtra bandh today in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Citizenship Register (NRC). In view of the bandh, strict security arrangements have been made in several districts including Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, Thane, Aurangabad, and Nagpur today. In view of security, the administration has deployed a large number of police forces. The situation is normal in Pune amid a statewide bandh called by the deprived Bahujan Aghadi Party to protest against the CAA and NRC.

On Monday, the founder of the deprived Bahujan Aghadi Party, Prakash Ambedkar had said that the country is on the path of economic insolvency. The Center is forcibly enforcing the CAA law across the country, causing an atmosphere of unrest. Since GST and demonetization, a sense of mistrust has arisen in the country. The economic policies implemented by the Center are not correct. Ambedkar has also appealed to political parties and social organizations to join Maharashtra bandh in protest against Citizenship Amendment Act and National Citizenship Register. Prakash Ambedkar also met Uddhav Thackeray to call for this bandh.
