After the victory of the Janata Dal formed by the merger of the four parties, Ajit Singh's name was fixed for the post of Chief Minister. All preparations were completed, but suddenly the decision was changed and Janmorcha MLA stood in Mulayam Singh's court and he became the Chief Minister.
