State of TN lost rights when the DMK was part of the coalition government: D Jayakumar

Tamil Nadu is always in discussions due to heated debate among the ministers and parties. The people of Tamil Nadu have decided to select the AIADMK back to power, Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar was quoted saying on Wednesday. Responding to a question from the media persons, after visiting a party event in Broadway, on the DMK general council passing a resolution to bring DMK to power and make M K Stalin the Chief Minister, Jayakumar told that a resolution was passed by the DMK but the people had decided otherwise.

On the DMK’s assertion that the AIADMK had given up on the rights of the State, he stated that 'the State lost most of its rights when the DMK was part of the coalition government at the Centre. Even on issues like the Cauvery conflict, the DMK did not take any firm stand.' He further added, 'The AIADMK had been struggling for the rights of the State fervently with the Centre, he said, adding that the State government had been fighting for the Rs 12,000 crore GST dues that the Centre had to pay.'

When asked about BJP leaders talking about establishing a government in Tamil Nadu, the Minister said that it could be their choice and they might have represented their views about it. On Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami urging the Reserve Bank of India to roll back its credit policy, Jayakumar said that the government could not bear the reduction of funds to the districts that had shown growth.
