Once again, the Bharatiya Janata Party has launched a demand for 50 percent seats from the Shiromani Akali Dal. This move has created a ruckus in the politics of Punjab. Three senior leaders started a new discussion by taking the same line at a function held in Jalandhar after the election of the new BJP state president Ashwini Sharma.

According to media reports, the way SAD is stirring these days and new equations are forming in the party, BJP leaders feel that the break-up in SAD will affect their election too. Of course, party leaders are also eyeing to what extent the Taskali, who are under the leadership of Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, are able to harm the SAD, so that the BJP also prepares to take more stakes by increasing its terms from the SAD.

In the meeting held on Friday, the way the former BJP president and senior leader Madan Mohan Mittal asked Ashwani Sharma to demand 59 seats, new signs are showing. He said that if we want to take 50 percent seats, then we will have to take this 59, only then we can claim to form our government. It is clear from this statement that now the party seriously wants to go to the polls on its own. Similarly, former minister Master Mohan Lal has clearly said that the party should now get rid of SAD and expand the party on its own. Former BJP president Brij Lal Rinwa also regretted that the BJP could never form a government in the state.
