NEW DELHI:  In anticipation of several significant events including the G-20 Summit, Janmashtami, and Ganesh Chaturthi, schools in various states across the country are set to temporarily close their doors. The specific dates for these festive holidays will differ from state to state, with school authorities having the discretion to make the announcements. According to the holiday schedule, schools will observe holidays starting tomorrow, September 7, due to Janmashtami. Furthermore, in Delhi, schools will be shut from September 8 to 10 in light of the G20 Summit.

This month promises a plethora of diverse celebrations and observances, offering students a much-needed respite from their academic routines. Ganesh Chaturthi will lead to school closures on September 19, while Milad un-Nabi or Id-e-Milad will prompt closures on September 28.

Janmashtami Holiday: 

In celebration of the Hindu festival Janmashtami, schools in several states will remain closed tomorrow, on August 7, 2023. The Haryana government has officially declared September 7, 2023, as a gazetted holiday for Janmashtami. Although it was initially announced for September 6, there has been a slight modification to the schedule. This year, Janmashtami will be observed on both days, and the holiday will apply on September 7, 2023.

G-20 Summit: Closure of Delhi Schools, Colleges, and Metro Stations
In compliance with government directives, all schools, colleges, government offices, and select metro stations will be closed from September 8 to 10, 2023. In preparation for the impending summit, Delhi police have implemented comprehensive guidelines and safety measures. The event is scheduled for September 9 and 10 at the newly constructed Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan. According to official notifications, all businesses, including markets and banks in the surrounding districts, will remain closed during the summit. Traffic restrictions will be enforced from Thursday, September 7, through Monday, September 11, 2023.

Ganesh Chaturthi Holiday 2023
Schools will observe a holiday on September 19, 2023, in honor of Ganesh Chaturthi. It is important to note that Ganesh Chaturthi is a regional holiday and not a nationwide one. However, states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu typically declare a day off to mark this occasion.

Eid-e-Milad Holiday 2023
Towards the end of the month, Milad-un-Nabi or Eid-e-Milad will be celebrated on September 28, 2023.
