Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a massive assembly of more than 200,000 women in Thrissur tomorrow, marking the official kickstart of the BJP's campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The event, titled 'Sthree Shakthi Modikk Oppam' (Empower Women with PM Modi), will take place at the expansive Thekkinkadu ground and has been organized by the Kerala unit of the BJP. It aims to commend PM Modi for successfully steering the Women's Reservation Bill through both Houses of Parliament.

Anticipated participants at the convention include women from diverse backgrounds such as anganwadi teachers, ASHA workers, entrepreneurs, artists, MGNREGA and neighborhood network workers, as well as social and cultural activists.

Although the event is designed as a gathering primarily for women, it is widely perceived as the BJP's official launchpad for the upcoming general elections, signaling the party's intent to make political inroads in Kerala, which is presently dominated by the CPI(M)-led LDF and Congress-led UDF.

The BJP's state leadership has announced plans for more national leaders to visit the southern state and engage with the public in the months leading up to the Lok Sabha polls.

The choice of Thrissur as the event's venue carries significance as it is one of the constituencies where the BJP aims for a strong performance in the upcoming polls.

K Surendran, the BJP state chief, highlighted that women from various spheres, including noteworthy personalities who have excelled in diverse fields, will grace the Prime Minister's event in Thrissur.
