On Wednesday, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) extended their trading hours till 5 pm for the day. NSE opened for pre-open trade at 3:45 pm.
Trading was halted on all segments on NSE at 11:40 am because of a technical glitch and Nifty was frozen at 14,820.45-level, up 112.65 points or 0.77 percent. NSE said in a press statement the exchange has received communication from telecom service providers that there were issues with their links due to which there was an impact on its system. It added that the exchange was working on restoring the systems as soon as possible.
As of writing this piece at 4.15 pm, when the Sensex tops 532 points at 50283, while the Nifty 50 stood at 14928, up by 211 points. COAL INDIA, SBIN, HDFC BANK, BAJAJ FINANCE, BRITANNIA were among major gainers, while UPL, TCS, GAIL, DR REDDY were lagging behind
