Stocks Morning Watch: Sensex, Nifty hit new highs amid choppy trade

The Indian share market traded on a flattish note on Monday morning session in line with the subdued trade in the Asian markets. However, the BSE Sensex inched marginally higher to touch an all-time high of 55,520 points and the Nifty50 on the National Stock Exchange has touched a record high of 16,433 points.

At around 11, the Sensex barometer was pointing at 55,519.68, higher by 82 points or 0.15 percent from its previous close of 55,437.29. The index opened at 55,479.74 and has touched an intra-day low of 55,281.02 points.

Conversely, at the same time, the Nifty50 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading at 16,542.90, higher by just 13 points or 08 percent. The top gainers on the Sensex were Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel and Bajaj Finserv, while the major laggards were Bajaj Auto, Maruti Suzuki India and UltraTech Cement.
