"Every person has a story to tell, and we at Storiyaan anticipate to bring out these stories," quotes the Founder and CEO of Storiyaan, Divya Maurya. Storiyaan is a student-run venture of storytellers that publishes interviews and stories of commoners. They are a team of 25 extremely driven college students who have come together to give voice to the unheard. Talking about the inception of Storiyaan, Divya says," Storiyaan happened over a cup of Chai while I was unwinding the day with my mom. She keeps telling me real-life stories of people, and this is where Storiyaan took its roots from."
Being a relatively new storytelling venture, this student-run enterprise has had its fair share of obstacles. Be it a troublesome day with their website or their prior Instagram account getting deleted; the team has managed to bounce back with even better stories and interviews every single time. "Getting clients onboard is a little hard when you are a student-run venture and for that matter when you are a UG student, but at the same time let me tell you, no degree in the world can teach you how to make sales. And this has come very naturally to all of us; fetching clients and cracking deals are no more a hard nut to crack as it used to be in the start," says Anchal Verma, the Marketing Head at Storiyaan.
Speaking about getting stories, the 20-year-old media student says, "Why do we only read interviews of people who are perceived to be successful or are believed to have achieved a feat in their lives. But the question is, aren't all of us successful in our very own unique ways. "With this thought in mind, Divya captures stories and bytes from the common man's life. Nevertheless, they have also hosted many renowned personalities including Aparshakti Khurana, Kaneez Surkha, Kiku Sharda, Sonu Sood, and Bhavya Gandhi and this is just a feather to their cap; their plethora of mind-boggling stories. These stories are bound to leave a dent in you and uplift your mood at the end of a tiring day. When asked about the future endeavours of this media platform, the CEO added, "We are not confined to numbers, lending an ear to more fabulous tales and having more people wanting to put out their story onboard is our ultimatum."
The brand wishes to expand its audience over various platforms. While interviewing and storytelling remains their top priority, they also foresee leaving no coin unturned. In good time and capacity, we shall witness them exploring video production as well. Going from 30 followers to 19k followers on Instagram in one year is not a cakewalk, and the team has undoubtedly put their best foot forward. "Social media should not just be about glorifying our lives or putting up happy face stories and pictures with aesthetics. We want to make it a medium where people showcase their real-life journeys and all the hardships they have been through," says Krutika Shah, the Social Media Head at Storiyaan.
"Every story deserves to be heard" has been their simple motto, and the team has stood true to its motto holding utmost confidence in exploring, discovering, learning, and failing as well. "We are in it for the long run and will never stop publishing fun to read stories and features," the Founder concludes.
