A grand statue of Jagadguru Shankaracharya was unveiled by PM Modi at Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand. But do you know who built this statue of adi guru, who once again breathed life into devotion in Indian civilization by walking from south to himalayas? The answer is sculptor Arun Yogiraj. He has erected this 12-foot stone statue at Saraswatipuram in Mysore. Yogiraj explains that he has never imagined that he would pick up tools to make statues, but now the statues he has made are making Indian art famous all over the world.

He says that his dream was not to become a sculptor like his ancestors and was working in a private company after studying MBA from Mysore University in 2008. But, his grandfather had predicted in his childhood that Arun would grow up to pick up tools in his hands and raise the name of this family of artists. After all, after 37 years, this prophecy has come true. He said the entire work was being done under the supervision of PM Modi. For which he had earlier developed a 2 foot model.

He visited and researched other statues of Shankaracharya in South India. He also discussed this with scholars of monasteries and other religious places established by Adi Guru Shankaracharya. Although PMO has told them what the statue should be like, he was free to make research-wise modifications. Tell us that this statue has been made of black chlorite shist's 'Krishna Shila', which has been used for thousands of years, which is also capable of suffering the terrible brunt of nature. Arun Yogiraj, 37, worked 14-15 hours every day for 9 months, which has now become meaningful.
